BURMA - THE LAND OF CONTRASTS
IT IS TIME FOR ME TO INTRODUCE TO YOU BURMA AS EXPERIENCED THROUGH MY GLASSES :). DON'T GET SCARED, I KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF WORDS WRITTEN THERE AND READING IT IS PROBABLY RESERVED ONLY FOR THE BRAVE ONES, BUT FOR THE REST, JUST BY LOOKING AT THE PICTURES YOU CAN GET AN APPROXIMATE IMAGE OF THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY!!!
I noticed the simple local life and different standard for tourists. In some touristic places I felt like a barrier between our worlds. We couldn't use some of local transports or accommodations and I got a feeling some people don't really know how to behave with tourists and they seemed distant. But in other places there is amazing warmth and kindness and I loved the simplicity it is surrounded with. When you use local transports like pick up or train you are one of them and you can interact in a simple way by exchanging food (my favourite) or just smiles. Usually you can communicate very well using only body language.
In spite of simple living some night buses, which are often used also by the locals, have even TV to watch. On all of them you get a toothbrush with a toothpaste:).
There is a lot of natural beauty everywhere and also the locals have a nice feeling for esthetics, they make amazing handy crafts, are hardworking and are in a way very tidy around their homes. But still they throw plastic bags all around.
I loved seeing men and women wearing long skirts, longyies.
They smile so much and they like to say mingalaba or hello and take pictures with you. I felt very safe.
One weird thing: local things (beer) are more expensive than foreign, I still don't get that :)?!
Enjoy, I did ;)!!
